Dengue fever is caused by dengue virus infection that spread by Aedes aegypti mosquito. There are 4 types of dengue virus that is DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, and DENV-4. Among these 4 viruses, DENV-3 virus is most often attacked on the Indonesian population. You should know that a person who had been infected by one of these viruses, he can be infected by other types of dengue viruses. That means he can suffer dengue fever more than once.
Actually, dengue fever is not the only disease that can be caused by dengue virus. Dengue infection on human can cause several clinical forms:
1) asymptomatic (without symptoms)
2) undifferentiated fever
3) dengue fever
4) dengue hemorrhagic fever (Acute hemorrhagic dengue fever) with shock (dengue shock syndrome) or without shock.
Among of these 4 forms, it will be explained further the 3 and 4 form considering these two forms that often causes patients to come to the hospital.
Dengue Shock Syndrome. Dengue shock syndrome (DSS) is a dengue hemorrhagic fever which is accompanied by symptoms of shock that is fast pulse and has low intense, tip of the hands and feet become cold, blood pressure falls or unconsciousness from the patient.
At this condition the patient usually is not having fever hot like previous symptoms. DSS is often occurring on day 4 to day 7 of the illness period. This is the kind of disease that often causes death.
