Junk Food and Potential of Depression

Junk food indeed now become popular in the society. Mostly foods that are delicious are classified as unhealthy foods. Food which is identical with high-fat, sweets and low nutrition is now known as one of the causes of stress and depression.

Epidemiological experts from English and France analyze food and the mood of 3486 male and female participants. Each participant was asked to fill out a questionnaire that asked how often they eat certain kinds of food in last few years. The Food category consists of two types, which are natural food categories (fruits, vegetables, fish, and others) and processed food categories (chocolate, sweet foods and full of sugar, fried foods, and other processed meats).

Five years later, those participants were given another questionnaire to determine levels of depression and symptoms that are related to stress. Some variables such as age, sex and other lifestyle habits such as smoking or physical activity was already calculated.

The results that we found, there is a close relationship between the types of food and the symptoms of depression. Participants who frequently eat processed food or junk food tend to experience symptoms of stress and depression than participants who consumed natural foods. Besides from all other health factors like smoking, exercise or weight, junk food or processed foods are proven related with depression symptoms.

Therefore, if someone wants to avoid the symptoms of depression or other bad mood, you should not try to eat these foods.
