Agro-industry or agricultural product processing industry is one industry that produces bio hazardous waste which may pollute the environment. For large industries, such as palm oil processing industry, waste water treatment technology used may have been adequate, but not so for small or medium industries.

However, given the high potential for pollution caused by waste water that is not managed properly it needs understanding and information on proper waste water management. Waste management is an integrated activity that includes activity of minimization, segregation, handling, utilization and waste treatment.

Thus, to achieve optimal results, the activities surrounding the waste management need to be done and not just rely on waste treatment activities only. When US environment protection is directed only at the expense of waste treatment activities at Waste Water Treatment Plant, it will be very hard, requiring a more extensive land, more equipment, technology and high costs. Preliminary activities on waste management (reduction, waste segregation and handling) will help reduce the cost of waste treatment.

In principle, the concept of cleaner production and waste minimization efforts produced a small amount of waste and minimum contamination level. However, there are several different emphasizes from the two concepts, namely: start implementation of cleaner production optimization of production processes.
